Some time ago I asked my mortgage broker does he know anything about RE Paper (Notes) in Canada? He told me that he is buying mortgages himself and it is a good investment.
Also I remember some very old post on one of the message boards about difficulties of buying mortgages in Canada. If I remember right you have to be a broker to do this.
