Edit
In my book, an offer to purchase real estate and an agreement for sale are exactly the same thing. I mean if you're the buyer wanting to purchase (or control) real estate under contract they are in essence the same.

I personally label what others call "Real Estate Contract", "Offer To Purchase Contract", etc.... simply as "Agreement For Sale". Why? Well, my reasoning is that the wording is much more agreeable to some sellers (especially those who have limited real estate experience) and is non-threatening.

When you boil it all down though whatever you call the document, you have to say what you can do and back up what you will do by putting it in writing.

Thanks
Scott
